Welcome to my gear page, where you can find information about my instruments and amplifications.

My favorite instrument that I keep and use mostly in California is an early 20 century German bass of unknown maker. A full size bass with 44 inch string length, round back and detachable neck. It has a very deep, warm tone with long sustain.

Soon after my arrival in Los Angeles, I found this bass in Hollywood in 1989, where I met Mr. Berk, an English born, retired orchestral bassist. He has told me that he brought this instrument from Europe in the 1950's.
I was very lucky to find this bass. It became a part of my musical personality and an extension of my soul. I have traveled the world with this instrument and recorded many CDs including my own recordings “Like A Dream”, “Raindance”, "Storybook",
Brad Mehldau's “Largo”, Bennie Maupin's "Penumbra", Alan Pasqua's "My New
And Old Friend", all of L.A. Jazz Quartet's CDs and dozens of others.

This instrument was made in Poland in late 19th century by unknown luthier. It is 3/4 size, has a flat back and very strong, "punchy" tone. Excellent for jazz music.
I keep this bass in Poland, where I fly to perform and record frequently.

I have used this bass on many tours and the following recordings:

- all-star CD project "Upojenie" with Pat Metheny and Anna Maria Jopek

- Michal Tokaj "Bird Alone" (Fryderyk Awards winner trio CD)

- Agnieszka Skrzypek's "My Lullaby"

Eminence bass is an excellent travel bass and I have been using it lately on my tours. It sounds and feels surprisingly nice and I really enjoy playing it. It is entirely acoustic instrument, with my favorite gut/steel strings and Realist transducer.

Eminence bass has a detachable neck and fits easily in a golf club hard case. Total weight is about 40 lbs! So much easier to check it on the airplanes, cabs, trains or carry it upstairs in hotels without elevators...

The strings I am using are:Damian Dlugolecki gut strings (G & D)
Thomastik Spirocore (A & E)

On my other basses I am using also:
Pirastro Pizzicato, Eudoxa and Oliv strings

While in California, I am using: a Gallien Krueger 150 MB combo amp with an extension 12 inch cabinet from Flite speakers.

While on the road, I am using Acoustic Image Clarus amplifiers.

I like Flite Speakers; very good sounding and light weight.
